Dear new – or current - plot holder

Sandridge Road Allotment Association

In addition to the information pack you receive from the council (SADC) about the rules and regulations, we would like to give you some information about the Association itself and what benefits you receive when you are a SRAA member. Sandridge Road Allotment Association was formed some years ago to help protect our allotments and to have a better relationship with the district council to negotiate any improvements. A fully paid-up association has more clout with the council than an individual. We are affiliated to the National Allotment and Leisure Gardeners Association (NSALG) through which we get legal advice, insurance and cheaper vegetable and flower seeds.

As an association we are able to offer:
  • cheaper seeds from Kings Seeds
  • two plant sales a year to exchange surplus plants and raise money for the association – so you don’t have to grow everything yourself from scratch
  • a toilet provided by a grant from the council, which is serviced weekly during the growing season – April to October
  • use of the communal cabin on the communal plots – useful when it rains
  • membership of NSALG includes an e-booklet of discounts as well as legal advice and insurance for injury and public liability
  • discounted local supplies, such as manure bulk purchased by us
  • the benefit of the experience and knowledge of our committee and association members
It costs £10 to join the SRAA. When you join you will be given a key to the toilet padlock.
