SRAA Treasurer’s Report, Year Ending 31st December 2016
To begin, I want to thank the following people who have made my job easy over the last 12 months:
The past treasurer, Melvyn Teare, who handed over the files in very good order. Neil Stiff who once again audited the accounts. Metro Bank, who very quickly set up a new bank account for us following years of poor service from our previous bank.
I would like to give you a brief history and summary of 2016 activities.
At the end of 2014 the association had a cash balance of £811 and by the end of 2015, the balance had increased to £1696.
The committee considered this to be in excess of what was necessary and we agreed that over the year 2016 it was appropriate to reduce the cash balance by carrying essential maintenance and organising free events.
We refurbished the roof of the large shed on the communal plot, and refurbished several benches.
We keep the communal toilet open all the year round, with the help of a contribution from Camphill.
We organised a no cost BBQ during the late summer, and a soft fruit pruning demonstration.
All of this resulted in a reduction of the balance to £1211 as of 31st December 2016, and we are planning further expenditure in 2017 as follows:
An improved notice board; £150
Costs for seeds, compost etc, to prepare plants for the two plant sales fixed for April and May; £85
Sponsored BBQ/Fun day; £250
Maintaining the toilet facility all the year round; £650
At the investigation stage only, a project to install solar heated propagators.
